Help to Buy Mortgages Explained

Are you Eligible?

Anyone is eligible if you meet the scheme’s criteria. The property you want to buy could be a new-build home in the UK and you must not own any other property anywhere in the world.

How Much Deposit?

The great thing about this scheme is that you only need a deposit of 5% of the price of the property you want to buy. Your deposit can come from savings or a gift from a family member.

How does it work?

With Help to Buy you contribute a minimum deposit of 5% of the purchase price and the Government will contribute 20% of the property value (40% if the property is in London). This loan from the Government is interest free for the first 5 years.

You will be limited to buy a home for no more than £600,000.

Where Can I Buy?

You can buy a home anywhere in England under the scheme.  The Help to Buy scheme will contribute 20% of the purchase price except in London where they will contribute 40% due to higher house prices in the capital.
